Ive been going here for years and I LOVE it! The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is wonderful. The owner is the best....super friendly and clean. I have yet to find a chinese restaurant that tops Jade Palace.

Just a heads up, the map showing the restaurant on Scotia and 10 mile is totally MISLEADING. Jade Palace is located in a strip mall off of Coolidge, not Scotia. It may not seem a big deal. But Jade doesn't keep their neon sign on at night so if you're looking for the place at 10pm going up and down 10 mile, it's kind of a big deal. The food was okay. Large portion. The dinner prices were a little high, around $9. They do have a $5 lunch special. They do give egg rolls as opposed to spring rolls which is a huge positive. I've only been here once so I'll update this if I come again. So take my review with a grain of salt. I just wanted to warn about the directions to the place. ** Edit ** I recently had the sweet and sour chicken as a takeout. It was just over $8. It was nearly all fried battered chicken breast in a S&S sauce. Other than 2 slices of carrot and a couple pieces of pineapple, it was just chicken in a sauce. Normally I'd complain about lack of any vegetables at all, but lately the chinese food I've been getting has been so horrific, this seemed mildly satisfying. At least the chicken wasn't disgusting. Although it had a weird taste like it were cooked in burnt oil or in oil that been used for fish or something. I'll stick with the 3 stars. It's getting to where I'm cooking my own chinese food because these restaurants can't seem to even produce something close to what I would expect at a minimum. ** Edit **

A throwback to 70s Chinese restaurants, and I mean that in a good way. Prompt service and the food is very good. I love the General Tso's chicken. Soups are good as well. Very friendly and great for carry out. If looking for a nice afordable family restaurant with good food, this is your place.

My anticipation got the best of me. I was imagining a Chinese restaurant which was lower-key, and a better value than Peking House. Unfortunately not. The restaurant was empty, but peaceful around 5:30, and it was quite a comfortable setting. The service was kind of brusque, though. And the food, well, the food was pretty disappointing. I found it very difficult to eat the tofu and vegetables. I mean, I had to order a side of hot sauce and mix in some soy sauce. I should not have to play chef. Perhaps I would have expected something like this from a $6 take out restaurant, but this was a $12 plate! There were similar sentiments expressed about the fried shrimp. I did appreciate that there was rainbow sherbet and peppermint ice cream, but that did not sweeten an otherwise unpalatable experience. How sad!

My first time ordering from the Jade Palace. Service was courteous, efficient, fast. Food quality was mediocre. Skimpy on costlier ingredients such as shrimp and chicken. Vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly, but again there was noticeable skimping on the pricier ones such as broccoli. I asked for no Msg, which they were great about, but dishes lacked any flavor as a result. Portion sizes were very generous.

In my continuous search for great Chinese in the Detroit area I tried Jade Palace. Most of what I tried was good- but nothing was great. I found the won tons in the won ton soup to be overcooked. The fried rice was fine but was mostly rice and a bit heavy on the soy sauce. The main dishes were good, a bit heavy on the sauce.

we spent christmas evening at jade palace. just two gentiles and our jewish friends. i enjoyed the food here. the shrimp in my shrimp with lobster sauce was much better than i have had in any chinese food in a long time. it in no way tasted like it was frozen to begin with. james and his ubiquitous sesame chicken was also pretty good. the batter was very light and fluffy. a very good aspect to have in fried foods. they also make their hot mustard fresh and it is very potent. the dinner came with an egg roll that was light and flaky. what is this? not greasy and thick? actually hot and fresh tasting! the owner is a very nice man and the staff is extremely nice. maybe it was just because it was christmas night, but everyone seemed to know their names. the tip is included in the bill and is 20%. don't worry though, the service is wonderful. love, juston

Had dinner here earlier in the week and have been here multiple times before. Never many people in this place i.e. you can always get a table no matter the size of your group, but they seem to do a lot of take-out business. Traditional Chinese restaurant decor. I ordered the sesame chicken combination plate. First you get your choice of soup - (pork) wonton or egg drop. I don't care for either so I always ask if I can have the chicken rice which is also on the menu and they oblige every time at no extra charge (which isn't the case at most Chinese restaurants I visit). Nice size pieces of chicken in the soup and fresh rice although it does seem to be more of chicken and rice in hot water than an actual soup. Next comes the egg roll - which I believe is vegetarian, but you may want to double check. Egg roll is flaky and piping hot. Then the meal comes. I think their sesame chicken is one of the best around. Plenty of chicken and a good sauce. Comes with chicken fried rice (due to combo plate) which isn't anything to write home about, but it isn't bad either. Food is consistent. My companion ordered the General Tso's and they offer a choice of breaded or not breaded (which I know many people appreciate). Service isn't anything special, but like a referee for a sporting event, sometimes it is best not to remember anything, good or bad, about them. Prices are very reasonable. And to correct a prior review, gratuity isn't always added into the bill - they must have just had a large group. This isn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it is the best I've found in the area thus the 4*. If it were in a Chinatown, etc., it would be an even 3.

Great standard chinese food for a good price, and a nice atmosphere. Also great for take-out, with great lunch specials. I particularly like their won ton soup, not too salty, not too muddy, just right. I think it is the best in the area for filling my chinese food cravings.

sweet n sour chicken is perfect. general tso's chicken was watery and tasted too much like kikkoman.. i think they needed to mix half the sweet n sour chicken sauce w/ half the general tso's sauce (or less).. more spice and cornstarch and it would have been amazing. 4 stars for the sweet and sour chicken, 0 for general tso's. great place tho,

Not just your typical Chinese food here, it appears as if they use "real" chicken. I've only been here one time and that was for a carry out, however service was great and very attentive. This will be my new Spot for Chinese.

I love Jade Palace! My favorite soup in the world when I have a cold is their wonton! I can go through a quart of this stuff a day! It is not salty like many other Chinese restaurants. It has just the right amount of wontons, veggies and water chestnuts to make me happy! Their sizzling rice soup is a good choice as well. I really like any of their fried rice and the General Tsao's with breading is very good with good flavor. Have it as spicy as you'd like. They will accomodate your tongue! They do a whopping carry out business and the food is ready and waiting when you walk in the door. It is not the most inexpensive or the most expensive for Chinese, but the portions are large and if you eat in, the service is very good. Try the eggrolls. They are addictive. We have been dining at Jade Palace for many years and will continue to do so.

The fried won tons are to die for! Or maybe I'm just partial to a good won ton soup and crispy fried won tons? Beleive it or not, another favorite of mine here are the chicken wings!! They give buffalo wild wings a run for their money. Really!! Order a plate of wings and a coke and you'll feel like you're at the Palace watching the Pistons! The crab won tons are also yummy and you can't beat the cheap price and ample seating.

Whenever you move to a totally new area, the go-to restaurants must be identified as soon as you can afford to: Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Thai, pizza for delivery, etc. After calling around looking for a Chinese restaurant that will make Walnut Shrimp, I found Jade Palace. I called a list of restaurants from the yellow pages--a list! No one had it, and then, and then...the heavens opened! Walnut Shrimp, and furthermore, good reviews from Yelp! We had to try it, and try it we did. Tonight we ordered Walnut Shrimp and Szechuan Lomein, and it was good! The Walnut Shrimp was ample, garnished with steamed broccoli and shaved carrot. The Szechuan Lomein was our server's recommendation, and it was delicately flavored, the noodles were perfect, not the fettucine or spaghetti so many restaurants pass off as authentic lomein. It came with a mix of vegetables, chicken and shrimp, and had a little heat to it, even though it was ordered mild. Our server was very attentive and polite. At first we were the only customers, but then the Take Out customers began showing up, and several young families sat down. This isn't cheap Chinese, but considering shrimp played a starring role in both entrees, I think it was fair. Each entree came with an eggroll and a choice of soups. Tea came in a teapot, and was refilled at no extra cost. We will definitely be back.

The man taking the orders was very friendly and helpful with what to order. Unfortunately between him taking phone orders and our order things got a little mixed up. The food is pretty good. Just didn't get what we had ordered. Next time we will have to eat in to make sure we get what we ordered.

I love trying new restaurants. Just not this one... The almond chicken did not taste like chicken, and it tasted like there were eggs all over it. Highly disappointed

Every time I have gone here the owner is so nice and that is just the egg roll (cherry) on top. The food is always delicious and I have never had a bad experience. Best Chinese restaurant I have been to. I have lived in many many states, and cities this is the best. Go here!!!

I havent real eaten much here because I have a few other Chinese spots Im more loyal too. Love the interior and the boxes they put food in. My brother told me they have great egg rolls so I order some. Pretty damn tasty egg rolls. I would definitely highly recommend them.

I was looking forward to this place, based on these reviews. Clearly, none of you have ordered crab rangoon. I have been to many, many Chinese restaurants. Some are good, some not so much. But the one constant that I have found is that regardless of the rest of their menu, every Chinese restaurant makes good crab rangoon. They have different styles, but they all taste great. So imagine my surprise when I ended up having to throw most of my order away from here because it really tasted THAT bad! Each one might as well have had a whole crab in it. There were HUGE chunks of crab, and not much else. The texture was so weird and terrible that I couldn't take it anymore- no amount of sweet and sour sauce could fix that. Their egg drop soup was bland. Not terrible, but when I was done I threw the rest away, because I did not want to eat more of that later. This is the only Chinese restaurant I've ever been to that I will absolutely never visit again.

I'm always on the look out for good Chinese. On a quest to find something better than my very good Chinese takeout stand by, I decided to give Jade Palace a try. I'm not sure what exactly happened that made my experience so much different than that of other yelpers, but the difference was dramatic. So dramatic, in fact, I'm writing this 15 minutes after eating. I ordered hong su tofu (medium spice) with vegetable lo mein and my fiance ordered beef and brocolli with Chinese vegetable soup. We also ordered two spring rolls. We had restaurant connection deliver. Upon receiving the delivery I immediately noticed that all the bags were severely leaking. I'm not sure if this was due to RC or Jade Palace. It was a pretty big mess. The medium spice hong su tofu tasted as though it had been rinsed in greasy water and was far from spicy. In fact, I'm not sure there was any spice at all. The tofu was chewy and appeared undercooked. The peapods, however, did appear fresh. The lo mein resembled bean sprouts and tasted like under cooked spaghetti noodles. Both dishes were bland and bordered on disgusting. My fiance's beef and broccoli didn't fair any better with it being bland and the broccoli overcooked. The Chinese vegetable soup was watery and also lacked flavor. Last but certainly not least, the spring rolls were extremely greasy. I had more for Jade Palace and this was a pretty serious let down. Maybe it was an off night for them, but I know I'll never return.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
